ACTA Design & Events is a creative production and design company based in Gulu, Uganda. The company was founded by Ochira Innocent, who combined his engineering background with a passion for creativity after recognizing the limited access to professional event production and design services in Northern Uganda.
ACTA was created to help bridge this gap while building opportunities for local creatives and young people interested in technical and artistic careers.

From Creative Gatherings to Event Production
ACTA first began by organizing small painting groups and creative gatherings where artists could collaborate and showcase their work. As interest in these activities grew, the team expanded into video production, lighting, and event services.
What started as a simple way to bring creatives together soon evolved into a professional platform for event production while also creating employment and skills training opportunities for young people.
The name ACTA comes from a Latin word meaning “action.” Its lion symbol represents courage, strength, and a commitment to taking meaningful action that benefits the community.
Creative Services
Today, ACTA provides a range of professional event and design services across Northern Uganda, including:
Stage and lighting production
Sound systems and DJ services
Runway setups and event decorations
Special effects for events
Interior design for homes, offices, and commercial spaces
These services support concerts, cultural events, fashion shows, and private functions while raising the standard of event production in the region.
Training and Community Impact
In addition to event production, ACTA trains young people in technical skills such as lighting operation, sound engineering, and creative production. These hands-on opportunities help participants gain practical experience and access employment in the growing events and creative industries.
ACTA is also the organizer of ReggaeFest Gulu, a cultural event that brings together music, art, and creative production. The festival has grown from around 250 attendees in its early years to more than 700 participants, creating a platform for artists, entrepreneurs, and community organizations to collaborate and celebrate creativity.
Looking Ahead
ACTA continues to expand its impact through skills training, creative design projects, and new initiatives such as a creatives industry podcast and mentorship programs for young people. The long-term vision is to become a leading event production and technical training organization in Uganda while strengthening the creative economy in Northern Uganda.
