In a region that has long been defined by conflict and recovery, Loremi Tours is rewriting the story of Northern Uganda - not through outside tourism, but through community-centered travel rooted in Acholi culture.
Founded in 2018 by Adyero Gloria Barbra, Loremi was created to address a simple truth: local communities deserve to benefit from their own heritage. Too often, tourism in

Northern Uganda didn’t reach local people - leaving culture as a product for others rather than a pathway for community growth.
Loremi changed that.
The Gap They’re Filling
Loremi was born from the need to solve two urgent problems:
High youth unemployment
Tourism that didn’t support local communities
Northern Uganda had rich culture and deep stories - but limited infrastructure and little local benefit. Loremi’s mission is to transform tourism into a vehicle for inclusive, locally-driven economic opportunity.
Tourism That Builds Communities
Loremi creates experiences that invite guests to engage deeply, not just observe. Their offerings include:
Acholi cultural experiences and homestays
Safaris across Uganda
Hands-on cultural activities like basket weaving and pottery
Community events featuring locally made products
Every experience is designed to center local voices and livelihoods - ensuring tourism directly supports the people who make it possible.
Milestones That Show Real Impact
Loremi has built a strong foundation for community-driven tourism:
Developed over 20 community-centered tourism experiences
Created employment for over 320 community members
Trained 323 community guides who share culture and stories with guests
Recognized among Uganda’s top responsible tourism offerings
Earned Travelife Partner status and Fair Trade Tourism recognition

These milestones show a company committed to fairness, sustainability, and cultural pride - not extraction.
The Road Ahead
Loremi is building toward an even more ambitious future, including:
Acholi Shea, a socio-economic transformation project supporting women producers
A planned Tourism Village on community land where guests can live, work, and learn alongside locals
Loremi Tours is not just offering travel - it’s building a model of tourism that restores dignity, preserves culture, and creates real economic power.
Stay tuned. The story is growing stronger every day.
